Screensavers : If you will ask any kid about screensavers they might tell you much about it, that screensavers are nice designed pictures, cartoons, animations, music … Nowadays on every computer there installed screensaver. But there was not any screensaver about 20 years ago. The first screensaver was developed in 1989 year. Of course that screensaver was not that cool , but for 1989 it was really making a sense.
So why screensavers were developed ? Were devoloped first for any purpose ? Yes they were. Before 1990 on computer monitors , stationary images were getting grey and damaged for a given period of time. To prevent this , early ’screensavers’ simply made the entire screen black.
This changed in 1989. Bill Stewart and Ian MacDonald at Software Dynamics developed a 16-bit screensaver which they dubbed “Magic Screensaver.” The Magic Screensaver started the whole screensaver genre by going worldwide solely by word of mouth and a primitive 1990 Internet. The Magic Screensaver was then licensed by hundreds of thousands of users, including major corporations such as Microsoft, Hewlett Packard and Exxon. Software Dynamics soon came out with other screensavers including Magic 2000 and After Dark. The original 16-bit Magic Screensaver is still available for download through Dynamic Karma.
Nowadays screensavers are very welldeveloped : Screensavers can be fun, informative, screensavers wich are connected to internet…
We believe that screensavers can be usefull in many ares, such as advertising.
